Managing our environment

Our circumstances determine many aspects of our lives.

We do not always have the option to control our environment and other people’s attitudes and behaviours.

How we respond to the changes can make a big difference in outcomes.

For example, Being busy at work is always expected. Some days are so busy that we hardly find time to stretch, eat and breathe.

We blame the calendar, the nature of our work and other people who are insensitive to our calendar.

However, if we took control, we could always block our calendars, deny meetings and minimise our distractions.

A quick tip is to listen to our emotional needs. Are we happy with how things are going? Are we having fun, and do we bring energy and enthusiasm to the conversations?

If we feel negative emotions, we must stop, take a break, try to find something that gets us back into the positive state before restarting.

Can you imagine working with someone having negative emotions like anger, frustration and bitterness?

Another tip is to, ask yourself question like

  • What can you do instead?
  • What might happen to keep you from getting what you want?
  • What will you do to make it happen anyway?

We always have a choice, and our results are in our hands as long as we believe that the environment and circumstances are designed to bring out the best of us.
