Do you remember a conversation with someone which filled you with emotions?

Have you noticed a shift in your emotions when someone around you is happy, sad, excited or angry? 

The emotions we display generate energy that others around us can feel. Even the tonality of our voice over the phone can trigger someone sitting on the other side of the world. 

Emotional contagion is the effect we have on others and vice versa due to the positive and negative vibes. 

It’s been proven that we tend to make bad decisions and change our behaviours when emotionally charged. For us to remain detached from the emotions of others, we must be aware of how we feel. 

An easy way to know if others impact you around you is to label the emotions. Using words like “I noticed”, “I heard”, and “I sense” before labelling the emotions can dissociate us from the emotional contagion and keep us focusing on what we want. 

Life can change in a split second, and our emotions play a vital role in how we live and relive our experiences. 

If we want to have win-win situations, then being aware of our thoughts, being present in the moment and restraining ourselves from emotional reactions is the only path to success and prosperity. 

What if, only for today, you could use the word “I noticed”, “I heard”, or “I sense” for every emotion you label? 

What if, only for today, you could stop being triggered and become curious about others instead? 

What if this is the only thing that matters?

• Practice daily gratitude and be thankful for your knowledge, skills and experiences.
• Practice daily meditation to remain relaxed and calm.
• Practice thinking your thoughts and focusing on what you want.
• Practice dissociating from emotional reactions and labelling your feelings.
